For NHRA Super Comp licensed racer Nico Krawtschenko, that magic moment dates to 2020, when, at 17 years old and spectating at a local dragstrip, he discovered his love for the sport.
At 18 years old, he competed in multiple drag races across different states before he reached Bradenton Motorsports Park (Florida) for the annual FL2K event. It was there he achieved his first victory, making him the youngest individual to reach the winners circle at the competition.
“Both my parents have a history in racing,” he says. “My dad, Joe, raced Pro Stock motorcycles, while my mom, Jaci, raced her Camaro. They were thrilled to see me follow in their footsteps and begin participating in drag races.”
He continues: “I find drag racing thrilling and exhilarating. The sound of the engines roaring and the adrenaline rush during the races is incomparable. It is a sport that requires skill, precision and a good understanding of your vehicle. Being able to compete in such a high-speed and competitive environment is truly rewarding.”
In the summer of 2023, Nico, seeking to elevate his racing skills to a higher level, enrolled in the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School and obtained his NHRA Super Comp license. “The training and certification have allowed me to pursue my passion for racing with more confidence and expertise,” he says.
Like his mother, he races a Camaro, earning top finishes in Drag Race for a Cure, The Birds Finals, and Snowbird Outlaw Nationals. He is proud of his accomplishments in these events and looks forward to more success in future races.
As Nico continues to immerse himself in the world of drag racing, he is learning and improving my driving abilities. “Drag racing has become a significant part of my life, and I look forward to honing my skills and achieving greater milestones in the future,” he says.
