Chevy Truck First to Get 24" Production Wheels
Do you remember when trucks were lucky if they had 15-inch wheels?

Now, Chevrolet's new Silverado EV will be the first to get giant 24-inch wheels from the factory.

"General Motors unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV in conjunction with the recent 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), introducing a fresh all-electric variant of the popular pickup nameplate. In addition to the new battery-driven powertrain, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV also offers huge 24-inch wheel , which are equipped as standard on the RST First Edition trim level. At the moment, there are no other modern passenger vehicles sold with 24-inch wheels." (Source:

The issue is that once you have a production wheel, you need the production tire to go along with it.

That mean's GM's supplier Michelin is working hard to get the LT275/50R24 rubber ready to roll. That size isn't yet in Michelin's portfolio and won't launch until the new Silverado does.

And if that's not enough to yank your yardstick, expect GM to have 26-inch production wheels on trucks sometime this decade.
