Stallone, Fawcett, Newton and You!
Those dang Hollywood hipsters! Just give them a pile of Benjamins and they're off to buy a fancy throwback ride to park in front of their Beverly Hills mansions.

That's the fascinating story of Hollywood and Clenet Coachworks, which hand-built a limited production run of Clark Gable-style cabriolets, which tickled the fancy (and the checkbooks) of Sylvester Stallone, Farrah Fawcett, Wayne Newton and other movie, television and show-stage first-stringers. At a jaw-dropping price of over $100K in late-'70s dollars, it should come as no surprise that the entertainment-industry elite were among the very few to know about this neo-classic tourer built for sultry Saturday nights on the Sunset Strip.

The rest of us have probably never heard of Clenet Coachworks until now. Wow, what were we all missing? This mighty fine example, offered by Ryno seller stlouiscarmuseum, is one of only about 400 Clenets built over a 10-year period.

Peel back the handsome, hand-built steel of this Series II Cabriolet, and this retro roadster reveals a more utilitarian manner of motion, to wit, a 1979 Ford chassis powered by a 2-barrel 351 Windsor, one of the era's most ubiquitous V-8 engines.

This Clenet is chock full of features and options, including air conditioning, power front disc brakes, power steering, chrome wire wheels wrapped in brand new American Classic 235/75R15 wide whitewall tires, rear-mounted continental accessory spare, power windows, 6-way power seats, full interior courtesy lights, air horns, flip top fuel cap, cruise control, Dietz fog lamps, front/rear seatbelts, heat/defrost, glass hood ornament, etched glass vent windows, Pioneer sound system, faux side exit exhaust with chrome tips, and more!

The interior is draped in luxury with a broad burled walnut dashboard, complete instrumentation with quartz clock, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Recaro sport seats, all leather surfaces, and room for four adults!

Barely driven, it has only logged 25,000 miles in the past 41 years. Heck, most of us at Ryno Classifieds have walked more than that at SEMA over the years.

If you're in to tooting your own horn, this classic Clenet even comes with a musical melody horn system. AOOOGAH ! This rare Clenet Cabriolet is Ryno Classifieds Car of the Week.
