ENGINE: Downdraft intake design and more upright engine orientation with revised cylinder offset increase overall power. INTAKES: Rear fender with under seat intake channels ensure clean airflow. Revised airbox and intake duct for increased air volume resulting in more power.
FUEL INJECTION: Innovative duel-injector system utilizes a downstream injector below the throttle valve, and a second upstream injector located near the airbox. Together, they contribute to more efficient filling of the cycle to maximize power. More upright engine orientation and repositioned intake duct allow for optimal air intake. The downdraft style routing improves cylinder-filling efficiency, contributing to increased engine power. New downdraft injector grows from four holes to eight for a wider fuel spray, delivering stronger low-to-mid-range power for quicker acceleration. Lighter weight 43mm throttle body ensures sharp, responsive power. SHOWA SEPARATE FUNCTION FORK - TYPE 2: The revolutionary Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF)-Type 2 is updated to match the razor-sharp performance of the new frame. The Showa SFF-Type 2 separates the spring and damping functions for lighter overall weight and greater efficiency. A revised inner-tube design fine-tunes fork rigidity while the super-hard titanium coating of the lower fork tube helps prevent scratches and reduces friction for ultra-smooth action. Together with revised valving, oil level and firmer spring rate, the new Showa SFF-Type 2 provides a more planted front-end feel. Preload adjustability and fully adjustable damping allow you to fine-tune your setup for superior handling and control.
ERGO-FIT™ ADJUSTABILITY: The adjustable handlebar mounts provide a choice of 4-positions (35mm range of adjustment) enabling the rider to set-up their ideal riding position. Factory-style Renthal handlebar and handlebar pad come standard.
ERGO-FIT™ FOOTPEGS: Two-position adjustable footpegs help reduce knee angle when seated • Footpegs allow the rider to adjust center of gravity by 5mm.
NEW FRAME & BODYWORK
NEW SLIMMER, LIGHTER FRAME: New aluminum perimeter frame is narrower and lighter for championship-winning agility. Revised overall balance improves front wheel traction for razor-sharp cornering ability. Radiators are rotated inward for narrower width between shrouds, allowing easier rider movement.
AGGRESSIVE BODYWORK: New bodywork is lighter weight. Flatter tank and seat allow greater freedom of movement, Fuel tank has increased capacity, going from 1.6 to 1.7 gallons. Features Kawasaki’s first in-mold graphics that are more durable.
